Written By Jane Njeri Thuo

Many a times Education has been deemed as the necessity of necessities especially here in Africa. Without which one is labelled as doomed for for the rest of there lives.

Kenyans have embraced the learning culture which encompasses going to school and most times crumming to pass exams as opposed to reading to understand. Since Without a certain attainment of marks,an individual cannot be what he or she aspires to be despite having the talent and the practical know how.

In foreign nations like the U.S.A ,U.K,France among others, the education system is balanced. Those who are smart in books get a chance to go to specific schools that cater for them while those who are talented in fields such as sports, music go to schools that offer training and nurture the talents.
Its high time we Kenyans start to embrace the fact that life is not based only based on books but there is also room for talent.
In the recent days the government has been seen to be open minded to the fact that sports too is vital just like education. Owing to that fact it has accepted sponsorship from the United Nations Children's Fund (Unicef).

Shimba Hills Secondary School from the Coast province, Nairobi's Upper Hill School and Maseno School from Nyanza are among eight schools identified as centres of excellence in sports by the government and which will be funded to develop sports through
ave their top athletes funded for their studies and sports talent development by Unicef and the ministry.

Higher education is meant to shape an individual into somebody great in the future by equipping him or her with skills that will enable them to fend for themselves and earn a living.
